Tuition Benefits

The Tuition Remission program provides financial assistance to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ employees, their spouses, and their IRS dependent children.  For more information, or contact the Office of Human Resources at benefits@hofstra.edu  

Due Dates for Tuition Remission Applications

Please note that a separate application MUST be submitted for each semester that the student is interested in taking courses.

Winter and Spring – January 1
Summer I, II, III and Fall – April 1

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ participates in the Tuition Exchange Program. A limited number of Tuition Exchange Scholarships will be awarded (in accordance with respective collective bargaining agreements, if applicable) to IRS-defined dependents of full-time faculty, administrative, staff, public safety, and trade employees.

The scholarship can be used at any of over 600 participating Tuition Exchange Program colleges and universities nationwide. A list of participating schools can be found at . The award of tuition scholarship is subject to annual renewal. If your child will begin, or is already in the process of earning a bachelor’s degree at a participating Tuition Exchange Program institution, please submit the  no later than February 28 to the Office of Human Resources.

Please plan ahead. You may first apply in your child’s junior year of high school prior to the February deadline.

Dependent Undergraduate Scholarship Benefit
ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ offers a dependent undergraduate scholarship benefit to eligible full-time faculty, administrators, and staff employees. This scholarship applies to employees who have a full-time undergraduate dependent child (as defined by IRS regulations) enrolled at a four-year institution and pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility Based on Length of Service
After completing one year of full-time, continuous service at the University, employees are eligible for a portion of the scholarship, based on years of service:

  • 1 year: 25% of the scholarship award
  • 2 years: 50% of the scholarship award
  • 3 years: 75% of the scholarship award
  • 4 years: 100% of the scholarship award

Additional Conditions
This scholarship is subject to limitations established by the University and/or applicable collective bargaining agreements. Scholarship award amounts may vary by employment category.

Required Documentation
Employees must submit the following documentation to the Office of Human Resources at benefits@hofstra.edu prior to the start of each semester:

  • Grades for the qualified dependent from the prior semester or a letter from the participating institution confirming the student is currently in good academic standing
  • A copy of the upcoming semester’s tuition bill
