Now in its seventh year, the School of Communication‘s ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in Rome Study Abroad program brings together students and faculty from different departments – Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations; and Radio, Television, Film – to experience international media and history and its impact on current events and Italian culture.

The goal is to expose our students to not just famous, beautiful, and historic Italy, but also to the problems modern day Italian society faces, whether it be high unemployment, the immigration/refugee crisis, or political corruption and organized crime. Working alongside media professionals from the greater Rome area, participants experience the triumphs and tribulations of international journalism and production through multiple field excursions, production opportunities, and cultural immersions.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ communication students live, learn, and play in Rome while gaining real-world experience.

The four-week program exposes students to some of the most vibrant cities in the world. Rome – the media and governmental center in Italy – has a rich heritage of communication in many forms to complement its breathtaking arts, culture, and "dolce vita." Students stay in modern dormitory facilities in the Prati section near Vatican City and "centro storico" (historical center) with so many of Rome's extensive and breathtaking attractions just minutes away.

Students also visit multiple other destinations in Italy, including Naples and Sorrento, as well as Florence, Venice, and San Gimignano as part of two long-weekend trips that are included in the program.
